About NSS at GBYSSM

The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Swa. Gulab Bai Yadav Smriti Shiksha Mahavidyalaya (GBYSSM), Borawan is a vibrant platform for students to engage in meaningful community service. Aligned with the college’s vision of developing socially responsible and professionally competent teachers, the NSS unit empowers students to contribute to rural development, public health, environmental sustainability, and social awareness programs.

Our NSS initiatives aim to instill leadership, empathy, and civic responsibility among future educators, preparing them to make a positive impact both inside and outside the classroom.

Mission & Objectives

  • Promote community service: Encourage students to actively participate in social outreach programs.
  • Develop leadership skills: Train students to plan, organize, and implement projects for social good.
  • Enhance social awareness: Educate communities and students on issues such as health, sanitation, and environmental conservation.
  • Foster sustainable impact: Work on long-term community projects that leave lasting benefits for adopted villages and society.

Major Activities & Projects

GBYSSM’s NSS unit engages in a variety of projects aimed at community welfare and student development:

  1. Village Adoption Programs
    • Adopted villages receive ongoing support in education, sanitation, and infrastructure development.
  2. Water Conservation Initiatives
    • Projects like soak pit construction and rainwater harvesting have been implemented in adopted villages.
  3. Sanitation & Health Awareness
    • Volunteers conduct cleanliness drives and health education camps, promoting hygiene and disease prevention.
  4. Health Camps
    • Past initiatives include Sickle Cell Anemia awareness camps and other health outreach programs.

Note: NSS registration for 2025–26 is currently open, highlighting GBYSSM’s ongoing commitment to social service.

Student Participation

Students of B.Ed., M.Ed., and B.A. (Psychology) programs are encouraged to join NSS and participate in:

  • Community awareness campaigns
  • Rural development projects
  • Environmental conservation initiatives
  • Health and sanitation drives

Participation not only contributes to society but also enhances students’ leadership, teamwork, and practical teaching skills.

Institutional Support

  • The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) monitors and supports NSS activities.
  • The college’s Self Study Report (SSR) highlights NSS as a key component of community outreach.
  • Faculty mentors ensure projects are structured, effective, and sustainable.
